We met Laura Jones back in May when we DJ’d our first event in Portland (Survivor Mud Run). She was one of the elite female athletes that destroyed the run and then came up to tell us that she needed a DJ for her upcoming wedding in September. As it turns out, her husband, Derrick Jones, worked at the same Nike Campus as myself so we met at the cafeteria and immediately hit it off. I loved some of their ideas for their backyard wedding and we made sure to make a preparatory trip out to Cornelius to lay everything out and make sure there was enough room for tables and still have a dedicated dance floor. Laura asked me to create a custom intro song for her and Derrick that incorporated some ESPN highlight audio from his championship baseball days at George Fox University. We had a lot of fun putting it together! Jones Wedding Intro – Eye of the Tiger. I didn’t know how important the dance floor would be until later when Laura busted out the worm in her wedding dress! The transportation was a little late to arrive so we were able to extend the dance party by an extra hour 🙂
This wedding had one of the most breathtaking backyard views that I’ve ever seen. Watch the video and you’ll agree! Like always, I tried to capture a few moments as I could sneaking away from the DJ booth with my iPhone:
